A Kids Chore Chart to Keep your House Clean and your Kids Busy!
With a kids chore chart you can take that enthusiasm that children show when they watch what you do around the house and imitate your actions into a teaching game. If you are vacuuming the floor, they will want to try. If you are fixing dinner, they’ll want to help you cut up the vegetables. Some chores are too dangerous or difficult for children to do, but you don’t want to disappoint them. It’s good to start teaching them at a young age about responsibility and tasks, so this is a perfect opportunity for you to foster their habit of finishing chores as well as not leaving them out of any “activities” that they may be interested in.
A Simple Kids Chore Chart will Help them Learn
One simple chart that is easy to make can teach kids about responsibility and tasks. You make a grid that has 8 rows across, and 4 rows down. The first row is for TASKS, and the subsequent rows are the days of the week. Under Tasks, you can pick simple and easy tasks that the kids can do. For example, “Put toys away,” “Help wipe the table,” or “Feed the dog,” can all be simple daily chores that kids need to learn. Once they’ve done it for that day, a simple sticker in the correct box will help them feel a sense of reward.
Depending on the age of your kids using the sticker reward system can have some really amazing results. They’ll do almost anything to get that sticker!
Making the Charts fun
After awhile, kids may start to lose interest in the charts. You may want to change the chores around every week. It helps if the kids can treat the chart as game. You can add timers to each chore on the kids chore chart if you wish. You can also use music, or create “group chores” as well. At the end of the week, be sure to have a reward ready for your helpful kids.
