Organizing a Golf Outing is Easier than it Looks!
Some people think that organizing a golf outing for friends and family would be a fantastic idea, but balk at the amount of planning that’s required. As a result, procrastination means last minute planning and at times, no reservations; all of which adds stress to a day that is supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable. Planning a golf outing does require some work, however, if you do it early enough in advance you will experience a great time.
How Large and Where Would You Like to Play?
The first step in organizing a golf outing is to determine how many people are going and where they would like to play. After you know the party side, choose the location, and decide when would be a good time; spring, summer, weekend or weekday?
Once you have those decisions made, start asking around who will participate. If some people tend to flake at the last minute, you may want to ask for a commitment first before signing them up. A good rule of thumb here to protect against no-shows, is that for every 4-some that is ready to go, book them immediately.
Once you have the number of people and the location set, make a call to the golf course and ask them for their availability and packages. Depending on the size of your group and time of year you may be able to get a discounted rate.
Other Things to Plan For
Sometimes people have a different playing style – this may be especially true if you are golfing with family, and there are a few non-golfers in the group. Make sure you communicate with everyone to find out what their styles are. 4 hours or so for 18 holes is the usual preference; however, depending on the age and the size of the group, you may need to have several opinions.
Additionally, make sure that the amenities for your game will be provided. Beverages and scoring, the type of tees used is all important. Make sure you ask the golf course their rules and policies.
After this is all done, you’re ready to go as soon as the day arrives.
