Tips for Organizing that can Change Your Life for the Better

Did you know a few tips for organizing can help you improve your lifestyle? Just a few tricks will make your day and life go much smoother so you won’t have to stress over mess!  In this day and age, when advanced technology means more information, which means many more things to do during the day, we all need to start thinking about a few ways to help ourselves maintain our stress levels.

Don’t Procrastinate, Put Things Away!

All of us have left a pen on the table with the thought of, “I’ll put it away later.” Chances are that pen will still be there 3 days later.

Whenever you’re done using something, be it a pen, the phone, scissors, or even the remote, put it back to its original spot. This way, when you need to use it again, you won’t have to look for it all over the house! This is also a good rule to tell your family.  If everyone put things back where they belonged once they were done using it, would you still have to spend time looking for it? Think about how much time you lose just looking for the remote!

Tips for organizing like this one can save you hours, or even days worth of time every year once you make the decision to start living a less cluttered life.

If You Don’t Use It, Don’t Save It

Sometimes we keep things because we think that, “We may use it later.”  If you have a coupon for a free bikini wax and its wintertime, most likely it will expire by the summertime. Do you really need to keep it “just in case?” Unless you have an organized coupon stash, just throw it away!  The same goes for old clothing or accessories that you no longer wear. If you see it in your closet and you haven’t touched it for over a year, you’ll probably never wear it again.  You can either put it into a box or a garbage bag and start collecting these items over the year so you’ll have enough for a garage sale later on, or you can even give it to charity.

As far as tips for organizing go, being able to part with unused items ranks up there as one of the most crucial.  Make the decision to stop being a packrat and your house become your personal junk pile.

Remember – You’re Not Superman, You Can’t Remember Everything!

There’s no way that we can remember all the little things we need to do. It’s also unrealistic to stick them on little post-its everywhere, because those are so easy to lose.  Maybe the best thing to do is to write it down in a daily organizer and know your plans for the week. Writing in important appointments on the calendar will also help you to remember important items.

Don’t force yourself to memorize these things, write them down and keep them in a place you frequently pass by or use.  Changing your habits a little bit will help you experience a much more stress free life.

While these tips for organizing only start to scratch the surface of what can be done, take some time to think about your own life and see where being more organized could really offer some great benefits to you.
